Thanksgiving Favorite

Our Thanksgiving was a wonderful trip down to New Jersey to spend at my in-laws. It is a really nice time and my parents also make the trek down. We are lucky that they have a large home so everyone has there own space and it helps make the holiday process go even better.

My mom-in-law is a really great cook and one of my most favorite things that she makes is Baked Brie. OMG, it is so yummy. Since we became preggers I have been avoiding brie since its not the best thing to eat when you are pregnant but I checked with my doctor and she said a little of the baked brie would be fine. Yippiee! Let me tell you that it was worth the wait.

If you like brie you need to try this recipe:

1/2 of 17 ounce package of puff pastry sheets (1 sheet and I usually use Pepperidge Farms)
1 egg
1 tbsp water
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup of honey (you can also use brown sugar but I think the honey is the best)
1 (13 ounce) Brie Cheese round

Heat oven to 400 degrees.

Thaw pastry sheet at room temperature, 40 min or until its easy to handle. Beat egg and water in a small bowl, and set aside. Unfold the pastry sheet on lightly floured surface. Roll sheet into a 14 inch square. Place the brie cheese on the middle of the pastry sheet. Stir pecans and honey in bowl. Pour mixture on top of brie cheese. Brush edges of pastry sheet with the egg mixture. Fold two opposite sides over the cheese and then fold the other two side over the cheese. Press to seal the pasty sheet shut. Brush the top with egg mixture.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 30 minutes before serving.

So It Begins

I have not popped yet by any means but I do have a little belly. We just turned 17 weeks this past Friday. It is funny how every day I am just waiting for my belly to get bigger .. very different than before pregnancy.

Spam

Dear Frederick's of Hollywood,

I am sorry to inform you that for the next several months your weekly emails will be going into my spam box. You have been a good friend for several years and came in very handy over the summer; however, as my belly expands and my ass gets larger looking at your very thin and perky models is not going to help my pregnancy. I thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Sincerely,
Mama To Be

Christmas Shopping

This weekend I was feeling pretty good and didn't get sick all weekend .. this is like a world record. I can't remember the last weekend I didn't get sick. Anyway since I was feeling better and my mom was up to visit we decided to get some Christmas shopping done.

We went to Target and started working on my list. I was actually surprised to see that is wasn't that busy on a Saturday afternoon and we didn't even have to wait at the checkout counter - score!

The difficult part came in figuring out what to get my cousins kids. Some of these kids I only see once or twice a year so how the hell do I know what to give them but on the other hand I don't think gift certificates are appropriate for 6 year olds .. it's just my own thought.

I saw some young kids in the toy aisle and figured they were around the 6/7 year mark so I started to follow them a little (not stalk) but just stare at them and watch intently on what they found interesting. Bottom line is it worked and I go the items I needed to get - score again!

On a side note, I bought Season One of House for my mom because she really wants it but holy hell .. $45 for one season .. I love House but even he would be pissed off at the price, okay he is pissed off at everything but come on.

All the easy gifts are done but the hard things are left .. for instance, what do I get my mom-in-law? Any advice? Next year will be so much easier because we can give photo albums of the baby and all the grandparents will be happy.

Pretty Colors

Have you seen the new Dell computers? They are coming out in pretty OPI nail colors. The one linked is my favorite .. its called "I'm Really Not A Waitress".

My dream job is to drink wine, eat brie cheese and crackers while picking out cool names for OPI colors. OPI if you are listening I would be great at it!

Garlic

Let me start by saying hubby, I am so sorry. I do not know how you put up with me but you do, my crazy smells and all. Thank You!

So I mentioned how the new couch and the fridge smell bothers me well it has gotten worse. Now, I cannot even stand the way my hubby smells. Seriously, its bad. I think he secretly rubs his body with garlic before he enters the house. I know I sound like a crazy person but I cannot help it. I have even tried to catch him in the act because I know he is doing this. When his truck pulls up to the house I race to the nearest window for a peak but at last I never catch him.

Normal Me: Hubby, did you have any garlic for lunch today? It seems that I smell a hint of garlic.

Pregnant Me: ROAR!!! You ate garlic didn't you!! AHHHH, you rubbed it all over you didn't you!!! ROAR!!!

Poor Hubby he denies the garlic use but I am on to him.

Crack, no thanks I'm good

All of my pants are still fitting as I entered my 14th week of pregnancy. The only thing that is not fitting well is my favorite pair of jeans. I cannot button the top button ... well I can but its uncomfortable, especially when I sit down. I bought a BellaBand, which is okay, but after sitting and standing, and sitting and standing it gets a little annoying. I finally went on to Old Navy to check out there maternity pants since they have practically no maternity clothing at their stores.

I found a pair below that I thought would be cute. The band wasn't that big which is perfect because I have not popped yet and don't need full coverage for my bellly. I ordered the jeans in a dark vintage color and could get them in long which is a plus since as I am 5'8.

Don't they look cute .. I thought so till I got them in. First, the dark vintage color is more like a dark spandex blue and doesn't look or feel like jeans. Second, I didn't realize low rise meant low rise for barely covering your ass. I thought low rise was the little belly band on it, sadly I was wrong.

Come on, who wants to see pregnant plumbers crack?

Crack + Pregnancy = Gross!
