Loving This Song

Pink "Please Don't Leave Me"

Da da da da, da da da da
Da da da, da da
Da da da, da da
I don't know if I can yell any louder
How many time I've kicked you outta here?
Or said something insulting?
Da da da, da da
I can be so mean when I wanna be
I am capable of really anything
I can cut you into pieces
But my heart is broken
Da da da, da da
Please don't leave me
Please don't leave me
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me
How did I become so obnoxious?
What is it with you that makes me act like this?
I've never been this nasty
Da da da, da da
Can't you tell that this is all just a contest?
The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest
But baby I don't mean it
I mean it, I promise
Da da da, da da
Please don't leave me
Oh please don't leave me
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me
I forgot to say out loud how beautiful you really are to me
I cannot be without, you're my perfect little punching bag
And I need you, I'm sorry
Da da da, da da
Da da da da, da da da da
Da da da, da da
Please, please don't leave me
Baby please don't leave me
No, don't leave me
Please don't leave me no no no
You say I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back
It's gonna come right back to this
Please, don't leave me
Please don't leave me, oh no no no.
I always say how I don't need you
But it's always gonna come right back to this
Please don't leave me
Baby, please, please don't leave me

Little Things

1. Why is it that as soon as we put the AC's in the windows it gets cold and now I am sitting with two blankets on me?

2. Why is granite counter tops so expensive - $10,000 for what I want - tear.

3. I have been using Jergens self tanner lotion and my color is really good, although my white towels are turning beige. Grrr!

4. The quizzes on Facebook are addicting .. before I knew it 30 minutes of my life had gone by .. I won't even begin to say how much of my life has gone by from watching Jon and Kate this past weekend.

5. Weight Watchers has a ice cream candy bar out - its in the freezer section and SO SO SO good. It reminds me of a frozen snickers bar - yum yum!

Car Ride

Hubby and I were in the car on our way to Bernie and Phyl's to check out a coffee table and side table. On the way we passed Konditer Meister and began this conversation:

Me: Let's stop at Konditer Meister and sample more wedding cake.

Hubby: But they might recognize us.

Me: Ya, we would need to take our rings off.

Hubby: We could get more carrot cake.

Me: If they say anything I will just tell them you cheated on me and we called it off but now we are working it through.

Hubby: All that for free cake - laughs.

Long Weekend

This past weekend was wonderful. I wish every weekend could be a 3 day weekend. I know I am weird but I would rather work Friday and be off Monday. I just hate working on Mondays. I digress .. this is what we did this weekend:

Friday Night: Date night with hubby. For our date night we like to dress up and go to a different restaurant. A coworker recommended one, 3 Restaurant,in Franklin. It was great and the atmosphere was a cool lounge vibe. We started with their baked brie, which I loved, and split a Ceasar salad - awesome!! They have lots of seafood and I tried their Lobster Mac and Cheese. It was nice and cheesy which I like plus they do it in a half portion. I got the half portion and it was still big so I can only imagine the full size. Hubby got the Maine Lobster Pot Pie with a nice flaky crust, he liked it a lot. The have a large bar selection with lots of cool martini's. I got the 3 Cosmo but sadly was not a fan. The liquor they used just didn't mix with me. The waitress was really sweet and took it off the bill. All in all I would give the restaurant a 9.

Saturday: Cleaned up the house, got some groceries, bought new hardware for the cabinets, hubby got a haircut and my dad in law came up. The boys were seeing the Star Trek movie for the first time and they were super excited about it. It was cute to see. I didn't want to see the movie so I stayed in and watched Jon and Kate Plus 8. God, I love this show. I cannot wait for the season premiere ... what is going to happen.

Sunday: The boys went to the Sox/Mets game. It was the first time dad-in-law had been to Fenway so he was excited. Although its funny because he goes to Yankee Stadium all the time so being in an old stadium was weird. I think he likes the newer stadiums, also he is a Yankee fan so he doesn't like it when the Sox's win. While the boys were at the game my parents came up for a low key BBQ. Just as we started to cook on the grill the sky opened up and the rain came down in buckets. My poor dad was outside and came in so soaked .. even 1 hour later when I hugged him goodbye his shirt was still wet.

Monday: Watched Jon & Kate Plus 8 in the morning over coffee before heading to furniture stores. I love the show but I thought this was just too funny. On the show for 9/11 the little kids were sticking American flags into the yard and them some of them started to stick them in the concrete driveway saying "Daddy this is hard". Daddy says "Put them in the grass it is easier" haa haa. Hubby and I both burst into laughter. Also, Jon was being sweet and made a video for Kate of the kids while she was gone .. I had to tear up. Later that night we watched the season premiere and it was so sad I had to cry. Seeing them drift apart and how awkward they were at the kids b-day party was awful. No matter what happens I hope they take time out and communicate with each other .. we will see what happens.

Off Day

Today has just been weird. I have just felt off all day and will blame the heat on it. The AC in my car broke so driving today SUCKED!!!! Thankfully it is being fixed on Saturday.

The outreach team and I met for lunch at Panera and did some brainstorming. While we were talking, Sue and I, were facing the entrance and the other two were looking at the wall. All of a sudden this elderly woman came in the door and tripped on the rug which caused her to crash in the glass door in front of her. It was like slow motion .. she banged her head really hard and Sue and I jumped to our feet. Others came running too. Luckily there was a nurse/medical personnel eating and she was able to take over. The woman ended up being fine but a little banged up.

We went back to eating lunch and chatting. While we were talking we noticed a police officer come in, then leave, then come in and speak with a woman and leave again. My coworker, Nicole, noticed that some of the police were hanging outside ... weird. We were able to hear the officer mention something about a black Jeep but that was it. We tried to go back to talking but got a little nervous because Nicole has a black Jeep. On our way out the manager came over and asked if any of us had a black Jeep, Nicole said yes and it turned out it was her car that got hit in the parking lot. WTF. Luckily when we looked at her car it was only a little scratch and you couldn't even notice it.

All in all it was just a weird day.

Stunt Groom

We saw this commercial and had to laugh:

Me: "How come I didn't get the handsome stunt groom?"

Hubby: "You did. You got me!"

Me: "Oh!"

The Tuna Thief

For all of you that think the Lite Wheat Bread story was funny you will get a kick out of this. When hubby and I were dating he lived in a 3 story house with his roommate Bryan. On the first floor was the owner of the house, they were on the 2nd floor and then above them was another guy. There place was very spacious and the layout was ok. The only bad thing was that the first room was the living room and then the very back room was the kitchen so it didn't make entertaining easy.

Anyway, hubby was on the South Beach Diet then so he was limited to how many carbs he could eat and thus he ate lots of salads. Although manly salads, you know with tons of chicken, deli meats or tuna on it. Now Bryan and hubby shared a lot of stuff but their food was pretty seperate. For some reason though cans of hubby's tuna started to go missing. At first he shrugged it off but soon he began to get really annoyed. He knew Bryan wasn't taking it because I don't think he liked tuna and hubby even asked him about it. I personally thought that he was just eating more then he realized but he decided that the only logical explanation was the fact that the owner of the house was breaking into their apartment and started taking hubby's cans of tuna. And I am only talking like 1 or 2 cans at a time .. nothing major.

I think it is the funniest thing ever that he thinks the owner would break in and take his tuna and yet touch nothing else in their apartment. Come on they had some expensive computers, TV's, video games, a guitar etc but the owner only chose to take cans of tuna. Sigh, it still makes me laugh today!

Hmmm

My light wheat bread that I keep in the cabinet got mangled. My poor bread .. I can't even make a sandwich with it let alone put it in the toaster. It's like Ed's heavy duty bread beat the crap out of my. This is how the conversation went:

Me: "Why the hell happened to my bread?"

Hubby: "I don't know, what happened?"

Me: "Look at it, it is all mangled. I can't use it so we might as well just feed it to the ducks."

Hubby: "Oh man, what happened to it?"

Me: "I think it was Ninjas"

Hubby: "Haa Haa. Where they 4 feet tall Ninjas? Is that the only thing they could attack?"

Me: "How would they get up to that top cabinet, they are only 4 feet tall?"

Hubby: "Duh, they would jump up, they are Ninjas!"

Little Things

A few things have happened this week that I should report:

1. My dad apparently thought we had a garbage disposal so he started shoving stuff down our sink - ummm, we don't have a garbage disposal. That was a fun time!

2. They make headlights for lawn mowers. Who knew? Let me back up .. when I was growing up my mom went back to school to become a nurse and she worked nights for a long time. Just as she would go to sleep or happen to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather our neighbor would always start his lawnmower up. This would drive my mom insane - this guy literaly would mow his lawn everyday - talk about no life. Well anyway my parents have new neighbors and apparently this new guy is even worse that he will mow the lawn when it is dark out. He bought headlights ... seriously who does this?

3. I have become a fan of Big Baby!

4. My dad gave me a soon to be mom mother's day card. I am not even pregnant but he knows we want to start trying at the end of the summer so he wanted to be the first one to by me a card. He is cute and silly.

5. My hubby is turning into House. He is hobbling around the house because he hurt his toe a few weeks ago and it has gotten worse with his softball rough housing antics. So he doesn't want to see a doctor because "there is nothing they can do for toes except put a splint on it" then he started thinking if he had a splint he could use a cane and if he got a cane it could be the same one House uses .. now he wants to see the doctor.

6. Did anyone watch the House finale? Creepy and sad. I couldn't help but cry.

7. Did anyone watch the wedding episode of Grey's with Izzy and Alex .. OMG .. I bawled my eyes out. My friend Maria called and I answered and basically was like "crying, crying, Izzy, crying, crying, Alex, crying, pretty, crying, later" She was like ok I hope you are alright because I can't understand you. Call me later - haa haa.

8. I got to stay over at the Sheraton Hotel thursday night because I am attending a two day conference. I love staying in hotels ... so much fun .. plus they delivered a beer to me .. now that is service!

Happy Friday!!

Needing Motivation

I have pulled out all of my summer clothes and packed up my winter clothes. Woo Hoo. I love wearing flip flops but not that excited about wearing shorts. My summer clothes fit so that is good that I didn't go up a size but it is also very disappointing because I didn't go down a size.

I need to let it go and move on but sometimes I just get so frustrated. I had loss 21 lbs back around the holidays and of course I put almost all of it back on. I am down only 4 lbs now. How did this happen? Why did I let this happen? I knew that I was gaining weight but yet didn't do anything about it. I am hoping that with the warmer weather I will feel more motivated to go walking and eat healthy but we will see.

It is also hard to get motivated when we are going to start trying for a family in a few months. It seems like a waste to diet when I am just going to get pregnant; however, I also don't want to get pregnant at this weight and then put on 50 lbs because I don't know how I would ever get it off. Oh well ... the battle of dieting is always there. Sometimes I am on the winning side and sometimes I am on the losing side.

Winning the Competition

So far I am kicking butt in the competition. Monday night I made a wonderful low fat key lime tart .. very yummy and super easy to make. Plus I topped it with some fresh strawberries.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups low fat graham cracker crumbs (about 5 ounces)
2 tbsp brown sugar
Butter-flavored cooking spray
8-ounces light tub cream cheese
1 tbsp lime zest
1 14-ounce can fat-free sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup lime juice (4 or 5 regular limes)

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cracker crumbs with brown sugar. Lay a sheet of foil in a 8 x 8 square baking pan, with the sides overhanging the edges. Tuck sides under. Spray foil-lined base with butter-favored cooking spray. Press crumb mixture into pan. Briefly spray cooking spray on top, and press again. In a medium bowl, beat light cream cheese until softened. Add lime zest and condensed milk. Beat until smooth. Add lime juice and beat until well blended.
Pour lime mixture on to crumb base.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, until center is just set and edges pull away a little. Allow to cool. Chill for at least 2 hours. Cut into 16 bars.

Little Boy is Growing

My little boy is growing .. by little boy I mean my husband. Just this morning we were talking and I told him we need to straighten up the house - do the dishes, move the boxes to the cellar and just plain pick up. His response was well ya we should clean up regardless if someone is stopping by.

Yay!! He is finally catching on. He has come along way from the frat house were they use to use a shovel to pick up the beer cans and your feet would stick to the floor when you walked!

Last Weekend

Two weeks ago we got a postcard in the mail from the Salavation Army. They were coming to our street May 4th, last Monday, to pick up any donations we wanted to give. They were specifically looking for clothing, household goods, small appliances, glassware, etc. I was SO excited to have them come pick up our stuff because I have had boxes in the basement for almost 8 months that I have wanted to donate but never got around to it. So since they were coming I decided to go through ever room and get rid of anything I haven't used in over a year.

Oye, I had no idea what I got myself into but it was SO worth it!

Messy Spare Bedroom after I pulled everything out of the closet.

Final Product:

All the boxes we are donating - 15 in total!

BTW... thanks for not giving me up as the craigslist killer
I owe you one
Thanks for snagging those panties for me

I could not stop laughing when I went to this site .. hope you find it funny on this Friday afternoon.

Oh it's on

Healthy competition is welcomed in my work environment, especially when I kick your ass.

Ok, let me back up. We started our volunteer training this past week. We have 5 volunteers come in on Monday and Wednesday nights and we train them in domestic violence and sexual assault. Well since we work for a non-profit we are always crazy busy so we decided to split the shifts for the training. Team one, Sue and Nicole, versus Team two, moi and Sam.

Now anytime you are training a group you need food, that just the first rule of presenting. So last Monday when Nicole told me that she was going to bring in munchkins for the group I made a mental note: bring something better then munchkins when you present. Then on Wednesday, Sue came in with homemade oatmeal choc chip cookies that melted in your mouth. She said she felt bad because we were in competition in the snacks department but she felt bad because she said I didn't know we were in competition. So then I shocked her by saying, "Oh, I know we are in competition and I am so bringing you down".

So this has turned into a battle of who is the better team presenting and who brings the best snacks ... hey life has little victories and I am all about winning this round. In order to win I need help from you. I haven't presented to this group yet but I have heard that most of them are watching their weight so thus I want yummy low fat treats that they will appreciate. I want to make a low fat key lime tart with fresh fruit and No Pudge Brownies but other then that I don't know what to make. Any good recipes or sites?

Also, the only rule is that is needs to be homemade, no buying food .. aka no buying pizza because lets be honest, who can resist pizza?
